Google Maps To Start Showing Speed Camera Updates & Locations
Google Maps is set to start showing speed camera locations on Australian roads.
The Google Maps service recently integrated road hazard alerts and is now expected to include speed cameras soon. Users will be able to alert the Google Maps system of speed cameras, with the app showing the speed cameras as well as the time they had been seen.
These added features and Google Updates by Google Maps have been rolling out over the past six months, some of these features are being ported over from Waze. Waze is a map company that was bought out by Google in 2013, for the most part Google has kept Waze standalone, but recently has decided to move popular features from that service over to Google Maps.
Although complete global availability has not been released, speed camera alerts are currently live in Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the US, at least for some users. In addition, the application is also showing speed limits notifications while driving for users in Denmark, Poland, the UK, and the US.
We will post ongoing updates for Google & Google Maps updates and features moving forward.
